Weekly Blog - 7-21-21: Imagine Project
For this project, I was really excited to be able to work with a song I found recently that I find both uplifting and inspiring. I was also grateful for the incentive to dive deeper into video editing in a more music-focused way. I've recently started working as a video editor and soon-to-be videographer and this assignment had perfect timing as it allowed me to push myself even further and learn more about Premiere Pro. The song I used for this project is called Heat Above by Greta Van Fleet, which is about recognizing the state of our planet, the war, and the destruction that it's facing while promoting the idea that we can ascend to the stars as one through love and helping others.
I was really impressed with Pexel's website and used all of its footage for this project. The quality is incredible and has a huge range of videos to pull from, so I never felt like I couldn't find something that was similar to the feelings I got from the song.
I had a lot of fun trying to make the videos hit certain notes in the song to create a more impactful effect and it helped to build some unity between the clips and the music. I'm very happy with how it came out! Here's the link to the video: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1kHK6jGVr602DD7CvO42065ReYY_47M1I/view?usp=sharing
I was glad to see Davinci Resolve was mentioned in our module for this week because it's an editing program I've heard a lot about and would love to use for color grading and editing in general, now that I have a basic understanding of Premiere Pro.
One program I haven't tried yet that I'm interested in, and was also mentioned in our module, is Adobe Audition, the audio editing software. Although Premiere does allow some audio editing, I would love to dive deeper into the intricacies and capabilities of Audition for future projects, as audio quality is obviously a huge aspect of good video editing.
